Step 1: Attending the Global Experience Talks @ UZH

Before you can start planning your exchange semester, your first step is to attend the Global Experience Talks organized by the Global Student Experience (GSE) team at UZH.

During these sessions, former exchange students and faculty coordinators will share all the key information you need to know about studying abroad — from application procedures and partner universities to deadlines and funding opportunities.

The main Global Experience Talks event usually takes place in October, and the exact date is published on the GSE website. Make sure to check their site regularly so you don’t miss it!

In addition to the main session, several departments and faculties also host their own talks and discussion panels. These are a great opportunity to learn more about faculty-specific exchange programs, ask questions, and get insights directly from coordinators and students who have already been abroad.

Attending these events is the best way to get started — they’ll give you a clear overview of your options and help you decide which exchange program fits you best.

💡 E2G Tips:

  • Take notes during the sessions — especially about deadlines, application requirements, and contact persons.

  • Prepare a few questions in advance (for example, about your field of study or language requirements).

  • If possible, talk to former exchange students after the presentation. They often share the most practical, honest insights about their experience abroad.

In the next step, you can find out how to register on the Mobility Online platform and get an overview of the available universities.
