After you’ve submitted your application on Mobility Online, the Global Student Experience (GSE) team will review your documents. They might contact you if any information or document is missing, so make sure to check your emails regularly.
Once your application has been reviewed, you’ll receive a reply from the GSE stating which university UZH has assigned to you. Congrats, now you are one step closer to your exchange! 🎉
If you receive an offer, you’ll have 5 days to accept your exchange destination. After you accept:
UZH will officially nominate you to the partner university.
You’ll get a notification from UZH once the nomination has been sent.
You’ll also receive a recommendation letter from UZH — this document is very important, as it confirms your nomination.
Shortly after, the partner university will contact you directly with details about their own application procedure. You’ll need to apply again to the partner university — but don’t worry, the required documents are usually the same as the ones you submitted to Mobility Online.
⚠️ Important:
Always include the recommendation letter from UZH in your application to the partner university. Without it, your application may not be accepted.
Depending on the partner university, you may need to:
Submit a preliminary list of courses you want to take abroad, or
Prepare a Learning Agreement after your official acceptance.
A Learning Agreement is a document approved by UZH that confirms the courses you’ll take abroad can be credited to your degree here. Make sure to discuss this with your subject coordinator in time — they’ll help ensure your selected courses fit your study program.
💡 E2G Tips:
Keep in touch with your subject coordinator — they’re your best contact for course approval and credit transfer.
Start preparing your partner university application early once you’re nominated; some deadlines are quite short.
Double-check all required documents and upload them in the correct format (PDFs are usually preferred).
Stay organized: Create a folder (digital or paper) with all your exchange documents — it’ll save you a lot of time later.
Be patient: Some partner universities take a few weeks to confirm your acceptance.
In the next step, you will find out what you need to do if your application to the partner university has been successful and what preparations you need to make in terms of finding accommodation, visas, etc.
