Step 6: After the Exchange

Welcome back! Once you’re home, it’s completely normal if a bit of wanderlust kicks in — many students miss their exchange life at first. Take some time to reflect on your experiences and celebrate what you’ve achieved!

After settling back in, make sure to check with your partner university about when your exam grades will be transmitted to UZH. This step is especially important if your exchange semester was the final semester of your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, since you’ll need to meet the promotion or graduation deadlines at UZH.

Once your grades have been officially transferred, your exchange semester will be fully recognized by UZH.

After some time has passed, we’d be very happy if you could share your exchange experience on our website! Your story can help future students learn what to expect and inspire them to go abroad too.

And of course — if you have any questions or encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to contact us via the contact form on our website. We’re always happy to help!

💡 E2G Tips:

  • Keep all your documents: Transcripts, learning agreements, and confirmations of stay might be needed later (especially for recognition or future applications).

  • Write down your memories early: Whether for yourself or for our website, your impressions will be freshest right after you return.

  • Stay in touch: Many exchange students stay connected with their host university, professors, or friends — it can open doors for future collaborations or studies abroad.

  • Join the exchange community: Share your experience at Global Experience Talks or mentoring programs — it’s a great way to give back and stay connected to the international network at UZH.
