Once you’ve chosen your preferred universities, it’s time to prepare your application documents. Each university has slightly different requirements, but in general, you’ll need to upload the following documents to Mobility Online:
Curriculum Vitae (CV) – a concise overview of your academic background, work experience, and skills.
Motivation Letter – explain why you chose the specific university, how you informed yourself about the available courses, and what benefits the exchange offers for your studies and academic goals.
💡 We’d be especially happy if you mention that you gathered helpful information from our website!
Temporary Study Plan – list the courses you plan to take at the host university.
Copy of your diploma:
High school diploma (if you’re a Bachelor student)
Bachelor diploma (if you’re a Master student)
Current Transcript of Records – showing your grades and completed courses at UZH.
Proof of language skills – as required by the host university (e.g., English or the local language).
Copy of passport – make sure it’s valid for the entire exchange period.
Passport photo – for identification purposes.
🗓️ Keep in mind that the application deadline for an exchange in the fall semester is the 15th of January and for the spring semester is the 15th of July.
💡 E2G Tips:
Start early: Some documents (especially language certificates or transcripts) may take time to obtain.
Tailor your motivation letter: Mention specific aspects of the host university — such as a course, research area, or student initiative — that connect to your studies.
Keep everything in English (or the host university’s required language): Double-check language requirements for each file.
Save a copy of everything: You’ll need the same documents later for your Learning Agreement and registration at the host university.
Financial support: There are SEMP grants (federal funds), mobility scholarships, and other foundations that can provide financial support for your exchange. Please refer to the related websites for further information.
By preparing all these materials carefully, you’ll make a strong impression and have a smooth application process.
In the next step, you will find out what you need to do once you have received positive feedback regarding your application.
