It's easy to meet new people as Lisbon has a high population of international students. Generally, life is very calm, laid back and everything starts a bit later. The locals are friendly and speak english very well.

Técnico is generally considered the best technical university in portugal. It has 2 main campuses, one in Alameda and the other one in Taguspark, the latter being slightly outside the city of lisbon. Therefore, it makes sense to choose courses in Alameda and stay in a shared apartment nearby.

There is some housing provided by the university, yet generally I'd advise to search for housing yourself on one of the many recommended platforms. Start early, as most good rooms get booked between may-june.

Generally, I'd recommend Técnico as a university for your Erasmus due to the mediterranean culture, which is a welcome change compared to Switzerland.
