Local Culture

Oslo is a small but vibrant city with many events, outdoor activities, and friendly people. Buddy Week and International Weekend make it easy to meet new friends. Norwegians are sporty and enjoy nature, skiing, and hiking.

General considerations

Apply early for BI and housing (before May 1). Even if BI acceptance isn’t confirmed, apply for accommodation. Communication with UZH is quick and efficient, but BI can be slow to respond. Book your flight about a month in advance and arrive a few days before Buddy Week to settle in.

Costs

Around CHF 1500–1700 per month (similar to Switzerland). Food and rent are comparable; alcohol is significantly more expensive.

General Rating

average rating is 5 out of 5
