I got a studio through university housing. The location was central and well-connected, the price was fair, and the studio itself was modern and new. However, the management was extremely unfriendly and uncooperative, with various issues like theft in laundry rooms, occasional bedbugs, and poor communication.

Berlin really has everything as you get culture, nightlife, parks, concerts, street festivals and so much more. There's always something going on. People are generally open and friendly, so it's easy to meet new people and make connections. What I loved most was how you can jump between completely different scenes: flea markets in the morning, museums in the afternoon, hanging out by the canal or grabbing drinks in the evening. The vibe is relaxed and creative. Berlin feels alive and there's so much to explore, which made it perfect for an exchange semester.

Start your preparation early, especially with housing applications and administrative tasks. I found my studio through the university, which saved a lot of stress. Course registration is flexible so you can choose shortly before the semester starts and change courses during the first weeks.
